Bald Mountain and Speckled Mountain – May 23 2015

So let’s go back to May and the first hike of the season. May 23rd we went to West Peru, ME and hiked Bald and Speckled Mountains.

The trail follows a gravel path to Little Concord Pond. When you see the Pond, turn right onto a trail with blue blazes. We decided to walk all the way to the shore and it is very pretty. A good spot to bring a kayak, if you have how to get it there 🙂

The trail rises steadily through the forest and some exposed rock and follows blue blaze marks, with frequent views over Shagg Pond and the summit of Bald Mountain offers open ledge with some pretty views. It’s not the most spectacular hike, but the summits offer some decent views and places to sit and rest.
